I love my new OrangeX juicer. It is so easy that we have been juicing away ever since it arrived. My 5 year old daughter has really enjoyed helping me. It is currently residing on the counter since it is quite heavy to move around. We haven’t had any problem with the handle staying up as long as you put it all the way up. I did have some enamel “dust” being created from where the joints were rubbing. A few well placed squirts of lubricant seems to have solved it. All in all we really like using it. I previously had one of the cheap manaul juicers (similar to the metrokane) and really had to bear down to get the juice out. The OrangeX is so easy and doesn’t require much pressure at all. The lever action really does the work for you. It is in a different league all together. The juice has plenty of pulp for my taste and of course it tastes great with no bitterness.

The juicer works well and the other reviewers have got it right. I just wanted to add two observations to buyers. First, the juicer is very tall so it doesn’t fit underneath you kitchen cabinets. Second, there is a limit to the size of the fruit you can juice. The only oranges I could find at first where large eating oranges and although they could be juiced not all of the orange was juiced. When I started using valencia oranges which are smaller and tangerines it completely juices the fruit.

If you’ve done your homework, you are likely deciding between the Jupiter and the Hamilton Beach. Both of them will last a lifetime. They are both sturdy and neither will try to tip over on you as you exert pressure on the handle. Your choice will be personal preference. If you’re going to be spending hours pressing juice or you don’t have much pressing strength, go with the Hamilton Beach. It’s easiest to press. But know that the Hamilton Beach, because it doesn’t press the heck out of the fruit, makes more watery juice. The Jupiter presses more firmly on the fruit, which means that although it requires a little more muscle, you can get some pulp in the strainer, which you can throw in with the juice. Me, I like a little pulp. Additionally, the Jupiter fits under your kitchen cabinets, which the Hamilton Beach does not. Bear in mind that these juicers are heavy enough that you want to lift them and move them as little as possible. The Jupiter comes with suction cup feet, so to move it, you have to lift it just a little, but these are replaceable with non-suction feet from any hardware store. I refuse to start my day with a noisy juice machine and quite enjoy my Jupiter juice press.

This manual juice press works as good as other ones costing 150$ and up, but that doesn’t mean it’s that great.
None of these manual juicers extract as much juice as a good electric juicer like the Citi-star. Don’t waste your money on those bargain 20 dollar electric ones either….they’re junk…..you get what you pay for – I tried 3 different ones.

This one, and other manual presses, just don’t squeeze all the juice out as well as the better electric ones like the Citri-star.
The quality is OK, but the base is not as long as some other ones, so you have to hold it somewhat to keep it from tilting over when you press hard all the way down.
One of the least favorable aspects of this and other presses, is the when you press down on oranges, chunks of pulp and other matter get shoved past the holes that let the juice flow out, so you get ugly hard chunks in your juice, so you end up needing to filter it again.

This juicer is probably the cheapest way to get into the world of juicing and still get a high quality product.

I wanted a manual juicer so that I could use it in the morning when others are sleeping. I have used it to juice kale, celery, carrots, apples, etc. all without any problem. It does not get all of the juice out, with damp pulp in the end, but it does an adequate job. The handle is not too difficult to turn although you do sometimes have to apply a good deal of force with the tamper to get the fruits and veggies to be taken in by the ‘drill’. It is easy to clean.
